Many of the people we support are seniors or people with disabilities, and so are many of the family members and caregivers who visit this site. We want everyone to be able to find information and reach us, whatever technology or abilities they use.
Our goal
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the widely used standard for accessible websites.
How the site is built
- It's designed to work with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline.
- A “Skip to content” link lets keyboard and screen-reader users jump past the menu.
- Text and button colours are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast levels.
- Pages use clear headings and landmarks so screen readers can move around them.
- Every form field has a visible label, and form messages are announced to screen readers.
- Photos have text descriptions.
- Links inside text are underlined, so they don't rely on colour alone.
- Layouts adapt to small screens and to enlarged text from your browser's zoom.
- Animation is turned off if you've asked your device to reduce motion.
Known limitations
- In September 2026 we tested the site with automated accessibility tools (Lighthouse and axe, plus HTML checks) and fixed every issue they found. Automated tools can't catch everything, so we're also arranging testing with a keyboard alone and with screen readers. We'll update this page when that's done.
- The consultation form, the funding checker, and the job application form need JavaScript. If you can't use them, call or email us instead — details are below. All funding information is also on the funding page without the checker.
- Signing in with Google on the careers page opens a Google window that we don't control. You can sign in with an email link instead.
